Welcome to Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. This week’s prompt photo is from Jennifer Pendergast of elmowrites.
When you run out of ideas…per usual…think, what would Denzel Washington do? Yeah…

James put his hands on his face. Resting them, he looked outside, and took a breath.
The cargo car rocked as he watched the landscapes pass. He’d lost his family and his way, and now he was homeless.
He heard a beep. Then another. In search of the beeps, he forced the car door open.
“Terrorists,” he said.
The beeps quickened. Somehow, he managed to unhook the coupling. It was the middle of nowhere after all. He shut the door, and turned right before the bomb detona—
“Jimmy…” the teacher broke his reverie. Sigh. Always losing his train of thought.
Participation is welcome to all. The goal is to write a story, beginning-middle-end, in 100 words or less. You are also encouraged to “think outside of the box.”

It was burnt to ashes, and as the fire starved and the smoke cleared, a phoenix rose, majestic and outwardly, and the Phoenix’s name was Princess Kick-ass. It happened exactly like that. But I think I lost some people on the way, and that sucks. Gotta re-follow a bunch of people now -_-

Oh not at all, this was 100% me. I lost a lot of great blogs on the process and that sucks monkey balls.

I don’t know what Denzel would do, and I have enough ideas rolling around in my head for three lifetimes…
But, having been that type of kid – and having that type of kid, twice over – we unschool. No teachers to disrupt the glorious imaginations off our offsprung!
All that said – it was a very cool little story. I’m doing four straight months of writing/blogging challenges, but I’m just insane enough to think this might be fun to play with, too…
At least, if I can find a way to add a Vulcan. I like them better than human bad-asses. =)

Dear Adam,
I love the Walter Mitty type twist at the end. From one daydreamer to another. 😉

I don’t know who that is, but thanks. 🙂
…Okay, looking it up, I see a reference to the 1939 book and subsequent 2013 film.

…Whoops, a short story in The New Yorker, not a book. And it was turned into a 1947 movie before the 2013 one with Ben Stiller.

Dear Adam,
I never saw the Ben Stiller version, but I loved Danny Kaye as Walter Mitty. I’m pleased you took the time to do your homework…without daydreaming. 😉

Dear Rochelle,
I wouldn’t call googling the name, and quickly reading through a Wikipedia page doing my homework.
