Under the weather

(Mar 28 4:35 p.m.)

Sometimes the cloudy days seem to overshadow any of the blue sky days.

(Mar 28 4:32 p.m.)

And the snow continues to evaporate

(Mar 31 2:11 p.m.)

And then…

(Apr 1 9:37 a.m.)

Bam.  More snow.  And on April Fools Day, no less.  (No more snow for spring… April fools!)

How does this plant survive?  It shakes too.  I’ve got footage… (Apr 1 9:49 a.m.)

The wet stuff, too; temperatures hovered around freezing point.  The snow fell fast, and clumped.  And after it stopped, the clumps continued to fall from the trees, gradually changing the landscape over the hours.  I measured the accumulation for the day at nearly a foot.

Two days later…

(Apr 3 1:10 p.m.)

The cycles continues.  Temperatures in the 40s.  Lots of water falling from the rain gutters, splashing onto the front porch.  The forecast for Tuesday: snow, rain… freezing rain.  32-35°F — another wet day.

Varied precipitation. (Apr 4 1:24 p.m.)

And right back to…

(Apr 4 4:29 p.m.)

Cloudy days.

Puddles. (Apr 4 4:39 p.m.)

But with near-freezing rain.  It was a different kind of obstacle course at Back Cove.  Try as I did to not get my feet wet  on account of a pair of shoes that breathe a little too well, I eventually did get my feet wet as well as my face with the rain when I walked back from the half-mile point, against the wind.

Seagull. (Apr 4 4:19 p.m.)

But there is that one reliable indicator of spring: the birds.  Our avian friends are out, singing.  Click here for a Sunday recording.  (Includes sounds of the rain gutters.)

Snow pile in the parking lot. (Close-up.) (Apr 4 5:15 p.m.)

In other things, my body isn’t what it used to be.  And by that, I mean, it turns out I have excess bone growth around my left shoulder.  The upside in the medical stuff is that my sleeping schedule has been (almost) normalized with the anti-inflammatory meds (taken twice a day).  The downside is I might need surgery.

Water cooler.  Not much talking around it, though. (Apr 4 3:44 p.m.)

Three X-rays and one CT scan later… I will still need to see a specialist to figure out what comes next.

Baseball game… during rain? (Apr 4 4:14 p.m.)

My spirits aren’t low, though. …Okay, so there have been days of tired feeling, and I scored 56 on the Goldberg depression test (online), but I’m sure I would’ve scored worse a few years ago, before I found great friends (online).

(Apr 4 4:29 p.m.)

There’s more to this matter, but the day is done.  Until next time…

(Mar 28 9:31 a.m.)
